Preps

  • Keeping an eye on the weather. The news is reporting a major and sustained heat dome over Europe, but the local temperatures in Santiago seem accpetable. Can only continue to monitor.
  • Started work on a crown which will be in place next week.
  • Dentist says that I need an implant on another tooth, but that takes way too long, and I don't want to be in the middle of that process while in Spain. It can wait until I get back..
  • Doctor's visits and follow-ups either done or scheduled for the next two weeks.
  • Got my Covid vaccine booster this morning. Don't want to spend my vacation laid up with something for which I can reduce the risk of contracting.
  • Have my social service organizations under control
    • Audobon society. The Peregrine Falcon fledge watch has terminated for the season. When I go downtown now, it is to relax.
    • US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Have all my annual requirements met execpt for an underway tow, which I can accomplish in the latter half of August or first half of September.
    • Hiking Club. Have an on-going issue that is moving towards resolution.
  • These are such the normal things of life, aren't they?

The best time to visit Santiago de Compostela is summer, from June to August or the first half of September, since it is the driest and sunniest period of the year. July and August are the warmest and least rainy months. Some rain must be put into account also in midsummer, and some nights a little cold.

Those who suffer from the heat, in order to avoid the albeit rare hot days, can choose the months of May (especially the second half), June and September (especially the first half), keeping in mind, however, that it could rain more frequently.
